In 2011, Gronk served as the Artist-in-Residence at Fullerton College. During this residency, he presented the exhibition Gronk Un-Secret, which was described by OC Weekly art critic Dave Barton as “like taking a tour through the abstract personal imaginings of a friend generous enough to let you see the world from his point of view.” Additionally, Gronk contributed the first centennial-commissioned mural to the college's ethnic studies building, showcasing his spontaneous and playful style.
University of New Mexico (2003)
Gronk was awarded a residency at the University of New Mexico in 2003, as part of the Cultural Practice/Virtual Styles project. This program emphasized the intersection of cultural practices and digital media, allowing Gronk to explore new dimensions in his work.
UC Merced – Merced Multicultural Arts Center (2014)
In October 2014, Gronk was invited as the inaugural Artist-in-Residence by Arts UC Merced Presents. During his two-week residency at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, he created a 12-foot-by-8-foot mural in public view, allowing visitors to observe his creative process. The residency culminated in the exhibition Gronk: An Urban Narrative, which featured his new mural alongside other works.
